The leaves and stems of the herb Zebrina pendula Schnitz (or Tradescantia zebrina) have demonstrated significant pharmacological activities such as anticancer, antioxidant, antibacterial, antitrypanosomal, antiarrythmic and larvicidal activity against Anopheles benarrochi.
MEDICINAL USES:
- Wandering Jew is used to treat a number of conditions, including stomach-ache and cancer.
. - It is said to be a favourite Jamaican cure for colds. It also has some reputation in the treatment of high blood pressure.
. - Tea made with Wandering Jew – Zebrina pendula Schnitz (or Tradescantia zebrina) is used in the treatment of the common cold, hypertension, tuberculosis, and uterine disorders.
. - In China, leaves are applied to reduce swellings. It is also used for hemorrhoids, blood in the stools, tuberculous cough, conjunctivitis, and kidney infections.
